Just for a change, here is a company with a fair proportion of revenues outside the UK that is not complaining about the strong pound. Interserve has about a third of its business outside Britain, most of it receiving payment in dollars, but this is generally less profitable than its British activities.
So currency factors probably clipped only a million or two off profits in the first half. The standout figure was a 15.4 per cent organic increase in operating profits. Aquisitions, such as the purchase in March of the facilities management side of Rentokil Initial, contributed about the same increase, and operating profits across the group rose by 36 per cent to £53.7 million.
